The inaugural Hit ID Symposium was held on 27 October 2023 at the Woodward Conference Centre, in Melbourne, Australia. Statistics Workshop

This workshop takes a very different approach to statistics than you will have had before. In the process, almost no equations are presented, but you will have the opportunity to hear about and discuss:

  • Some fundamental aspects of data: errors, distributions, presentation
  • What are replicates (really)?
  • What hypothesis testing is – and isn’t
  • How Joel pooing in a jar informs your interpretation of enzyme kinetics data
  • The critical role of prior probability in data analysis

Mindfulness for wellbeing and peak performance

Stress, inattention, multitasking and haste are becoming ubiquitous in the modern world and they come with significant costs in terms of wasted time, inefficiency, mistakes and miscommunication. The popularity of mindfulness can therefore be looked upon as an antidote to modern life. This interactive and experiential workshop will explore the science, philosophy and practice of mindfulness and some of its applications including managing stress, work-life balance, enhancing mental and physical health, communication and dealing with imposter syndrome.
